US imports: 10+2 is compulsory
Importer Security Filing (ISF), a new US customs initiative, requires importers or their agents to provide ten specific electronic data elements at least 24 hours before vessel lading.

Deadline: 26 January 2010
The one-year grace period for the introduction of this initiative ends on 26 January 2010. Henceforth, late, incorrect or missing 10+2 fi lings will be subject to fines of up to $ 5,000. Late fi lings will render consignments liable to time-consuming customs inspections at the US port of entry, which will be at the importer’s expense.
