Dachser expands in Latin America and South-East Asia

In January, two new joint ventures were established by the internationally operat-ing logistics service provider Dachser as part of the international expansion of its intercontinental network.

Dachser established a 50:50 joint venture in Chile with Gesto-Log, a merger with the renowned local freight carrier Logística Industrial S.A. and the experienced logistician Rolf Gremler. The company will be called “Dachser Chile S.A.”. The objective is to establish Dachser’s air and sea-logistics operations in this highly developed South and Latin American market. Simultaneously, the export and import business to and from USA, Europe, Asia and Latin America will be strengthened. Addi-tional offices are planned. Dachser Chile S.A. will be conjointly managed by Rolf Gremler, Dario Poblete and Martin Reichner. Thomas Reuter, Managing Director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics says: ”Chile offers perfect economic conditions, is connected on a global scale and invests massively in its traffic infrastructure. With our intercontinen-tal services we will provide our customers attractive logistics solutions in and for Latin America”. Dachser manages its own subsidiaries in the Americas, which are located in the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Chile.

Dachser AFL Thailand Ltd.

In January, the logistics service provider announced the launch of its activities in Thailand. Dachser is represented by the Indian Joint Venture AFL Dachser Pvt. Ltd. and is called Dachser AFL Thailand Ltd.
The joint venture is seated in Bangkok. AFL Dachser holds 90 percent of the shares. The rest is held by the local management. Thailand’s econ-omy is booming and the exports to Europe, Asia and India expand rap-idly despite political difficulties. Dachser AFL Thailand is headed by Managing Director Jittimit Somchart and Chief Executive Officer Detlev Janik, who also heads the joint venture AFL Dachser Pvt. Ltd.
Thomas Reuter says: “With the joint venture in Thailand, along with our long lasting experience and our market knowledge on the Asian conti-nent, we are a competent and globally connected partner for logistics”. Dachser manages its own Asian subsidiaries in China, India, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand.

In 2007 Dachser achieved a total turnover of USD 5.1bn. 17,100 employees in 297 locations worldwide moved 39.1 million particles with a total weight of 25.8 million tons.
