August 1, 2005: Dachser present at new locations worldwide

The Air & Sea Freight Division has new branch offices in the USA, Europe and China

Dachser is continuing its drive to expand its intercontinental network and this year has already opened offices at five new locations in the USA, China and Hungary.

Dachser has opened new offices in Atlanta in the state of Georgia, in Charlotte, North Carolina and in Boston, Massachusetts. Together with its existing offices in New York, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston, the company now has a presence at eight locations in the United States. “The new locations in Atlanta and Charlotte cover all transport and logistics services for Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee and give our customers access to the rapidly growing markets in the southern states of the USA”, says Dieter Bendele, Managing Director of Dachser’s Air & Sea Freight Division.
The new office in Boston is responsible for the entire New England catchment area. With an experienced team on the ground, Dachser USA is not only offering global transport and logistics services but also the new “Seafood/Perishable Service”, thanks to which fresh lobster and scallops, amongst other delicacies, are reaching tables the world over.
Dachser USA provides the whole range of logistics services at all of its branch offices and, as a “licensed customs broker”, it also completes all customs clearance procedures on behalf of its customers.

Expansion in the Far East
Last year alone the logistics company invested in seven new locations in China. The opening of a new branch office in Ningbo in the province of Zhejiang means that Dachser now has 12 branch offices in Greater China employing around 300 staff. “Greater China is now Dachser’s second most important region in the world after Europe and offers enormous opportunities for the future. Many companies are now also building up their production in the North and West of the country and we will be making a similar commitment”, says Bendele. As part of its contract logistics activities, for example, Dachser is providing a closed value-added chain from China to Europe for the Chamberlain Group. Dachser Managing Director Dieter Bendele announced that there are plans for further investment in the division during the course of this year, in both Asia and the USA.

Eastern Europe in focus
Dachser is not only expanding its air and sea freight activities in the USA and Asia, however. The company is also continuing to invest in Eastern Europe. At the beginning of May, Dachser opened an Air & Sea Freight office in Budapest. Last year, the company already took over a major part of the leading Slovak logistics company Lindbergh a.s. with its air and sea freight departments in Bratislava and Košice. In addition, in 2004, as part of its contract logistics activities for a customer, Dachser opened a further branch office in Breclav in the Czech Republic.
