Dachser and Logimasters now offer full-coverage services in Brazil

Kempten/Indaiatuba, 09. November 2006. At the beginning of November, Dachser – the international logistics provider – set up a new company as a joint venture with one of the leading Brazilian logistics companies, Logimasters. Logimasters & DACHSER Transportes Nacionais e Internacionais Ltda., in which both partners have a 50% stake, employs 245 staff and is headquartered in the southern Brazilian city of Indaiatuba, near Saó Paulo.

As a result of the new joint venture, Dachser now has twelve locations in Brazil. The CEO of the joint venture is Marco Aurelio Oliveira Soares. As the former head of Logimasters, he has been familiar with the Brazilian logistics market for over eighteen years now.

“Dachser is systematically expanding its international logistics network for the benefit of its customers,” says Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics. “This joint venture means we can offer our customers easy access to the Latin American and South American markets,” he continues. The venture gives the region much fuller and faster connections with Dachser’s worldwide logistics network.

When entering into cooperation agreements, Dachser always draws on competent partners with extensive experience in their home markets. Logimasters is one of Brazil’s leading logistics providers, generating sales of just under EUR 40 million in 2005. The twelve branches in Brazil are well situated in strategic terms, and include bases in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre. The company also has a logistics centre close to the airport in Viracopos, which is the second-largest transshipment point for air freight in Latin America.

Logimasters already leads the Brazilian market in air freight exports of temperature-sensitive goods. The cooperation with Dachser gives Latin American companies a number of important benefits in their export activities. The connections it provides with full-coverage systems services in the European target markets, which operate with state-of-the-art information logistics, will give them a key competitive edge.

Brazil is Germany’s major trading partner in Latin America. In 2004, German exports to Brazil ran at approx. EUR 4.7 billion, while trade in the opposite direction stood at EUR 4.6 billion. At the same time, Brazil is the gateway to the Mercosur member states, which have a combined internal market serving 250 million people.

In 2005, the Dachser group generated total sales worth EUR 2.8 billion. 13,400 staff working in 235 profit centres worldwide handled 28.7 million shipments weighing a total of 16.7 million tonnes.
